Marty earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Prince Edward Island and went on to complete a Master of Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary. She is a practicing psychotherapist (Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta - ACTA) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association -CCPA) with broad experience across diverse settings—including mental health work with provincial community health services, private practice, and corporate employee wellness programs. Grief and loss are a particular area of professional interest and expertise for her.
